Matzo
I thought I was going to hurl if I had to have one more piece of matzo instead of bread for Passover. Then I read the following. I got it from my "A Little Joy, A Little Oy!" daily Jewish calandar that my mom bought me...for Christmas! (We're all so modern and blended!)
Our Father in heaven, it is known...that it is Your will and our will to celebrate...Passover by eating matzo and not violating the prohibition against eating leavened bread. On account of this out hearts are saddened - that our thralldom prevents us (from eating matzo) and we are in danger of death. Behold we are ready to fulfill Your commandment of "You shall live by the commandments and not die by them"...Therefore it is our prayer to you that You sustain and preserve us so that we may... and serve You wholeheartedly, Amen.
This is the prayer that was composed by Jewish inamtes of concetration camps, which they said before eating leavened bread on Passover. It kind of put things into perspective...so I quit complaining about the matzo. Three more days.
