Amber & Rob vs. 'Rents - Round 2

His parents called to apologize for being over-bearing, and after a bit of discussion back and forth, we agreed that Weschester County would be an amicible compromise (and they would pay "for everything" they said). It's half-way between our house and theirs. Really, all I want is for everyone to be happy and to not be "bowled down" with the tastes and preferences of others.

We really want a more casual reception than "black tie". Everyone is in agreement about the timeline of the day (a 6 o'clock ceremony with a party 'til midnight), and we agreed to go look at a venue: the Glen Island Harbour Club. It's not as "rustic" as I would like, but it has the floor to ceiling windows and water view that I really wanted, and the outdoor grounds so that if people go outside for air or to smoke, they have something nicer than a parking lot.

Both sides have simmered down considerably. The problem I have now is that I feel like I'm the sole Santos in a sea of Blatts. Mom, you NEED to come with us to look at this place. I need increase my weight in this thing they call "wedding planning".

Also, weirdly, his mom wants to have this traditional Jewish dance that happens when your last child gets married: everyone stands in a circle around the seated parents and dances, and everyone waves their arms.

Does this sound weird to you? Because it sounds weird to me.
